NA4RR Hexbeam

On March 8, 2013 my son was born. While my wife and son were still in the hospital I went and took my test at the local hamfest. It was a double win, got my General and also became a father on the same day.

My stepdad Larry (KT9L) up on the tower at my old QTH. I purchased this antenna back in 2013 right after I upgraded to my General. Along with that I also upgraded from KC9BWI to K9JPD shortly after. The antenna I purchased was the NA4RR heaxbeam. I still have this antenna to this day. 3 moves later its still going strong. Has needed a little maintence but nothing serious.

This is the same antenna in 2026 at the current QTH.

My boy Dallas at less than a year old. At the time I spent a lot of time watching Ham Nation. I sent these photos in and put him on the show!

At the time I was running an Icom 756 and was into tinkering with ESSB. Even though the Icom 756 had its limitations I was enjoying learning. At this QTH I also ended up winning the Indiana QSO party for Sullivan County and still hold the highest score to date for the County.
